The post graduation program (Master) aims at training experts in sterilization that could operate in the pharmaceutical, medical device, and food industries. The program (Master) will provide advanced theoretical-practical knowledge of microbiology and will focus on the regulatory aspects relating to sterilization and the containment of contamination with a reference to the specific legislation of each sector.
The program will deal with the aspects related to the sterilization processes, taking into account the currently authorized technologies (heat sterilization, gamma radiation, chemical sterilization and sterilizing filtration) with a focus on the methodologies used for the evaluation of sterilization and contamination.
Particular attention will be devoted to the sterilization of nanosystems and the stability of materials, including packaging, to the sterilization process. Furthermore, the contamination control strategy and risk analysis relating to microbial contamination will be covered. The program will also cover the automation of processes as a tool to reduce contamination and maximize productivity.
The holistic approach presented in the legislation highlights that the company has to face a cultural change at the basis of which yes it assumes there must be in-depth knowledge in the microbiological field accompanied by knowledge of technologies and processes of sterilization. At the same time, companies that produce medical devices for implantation and/or sterile have to face the same challenge and also the companies in the food sector exploit the same technologies used in other sectors. The market analysis highlighted an imbalance between the request of the professional figure that this master aims to train and the training offer provided by universities, private training and professional associations. For these reasons, this Master is configured as a tool to fill the absence of a specific training offer in the field of sterilization processes and strategies for contamination control. The observation of industrial world in the pharmaceutical and food fields shows that the industries need to have experts of sterilization and contamination containment strategies.
Graduates in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Biology, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Engineering, Economics, including former employees of pharmaceutical and allied companies.
